These pages are dedicated to those virtuosos who go unknown in the common culture in favor of lesser talented commercial artists, and to my instructors who have given me insight into the genius posessed and hard work endured by these virtuosos.

The modern era of music evolved from the classical giants such as Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, etc. Each successive generation contributed changes that characterized the evolution of musical style that set the foundations for modern music.
Contemporary music was largely spawned from the creative genius and virtuoso skills of the original jazz & swing greats such as Django Reinhardt, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Charlie Parker who all left a lasting and indelible impression on all music that followed. These pioneers of jazz & swing invented new and original concepts in musical style that sent musical evolution spinning off in entirely different directions from the continuum of the classical form.
The later part of the classic jazz era (aka "Cool Jazz") saw greats such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Cannonball Adderley, Art Blakey, and others carry the jazz movement forward and in new directions, each bringing their own unique talents, musical vision and creativity to the the movement.
The fusion movement was spawned out of the classic jazz movement in the latter parts of the 1960s and early 1970s with Miles Davis contributing early on, thereby giving legitimacy to the newborn fusion movement. Early fusion pioneers included John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea and Return to Forever, Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke, Pat Metheney, John Scofield, and many others. The fusion movement was carried forward and expanded in many different directions by later greats such as Mike Stern, Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale, Shawn Lane, Victor Wooten, Greg Howe, and the list runs on...
The musical web of evolution has never sat still and has continuously evolved with offshoots in many different directions from the various branches of the diverse tree of musical style. Some styles are more easily perceived as offshoots of specific branches, others are influenced by many previous influences, and still others can only be evaluated on their own merit. In the end, despite all of the philosophy and untold endeavours of the artists, the end result for the listener is enjoyable music and genre is merely a medium for propagation of true musical artistry and genius. Great musicians and artists whose immense talents transcend comparison or defy genre are few and truly rare. To these ranks that include the likes of Django Reinhardt, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Paquito D'Rivera that have left such an immense impact on the entire course of musical evolution, this site offers its praise, approval, and appreciation for producing with merely imagination, determination, and natural aptitude, something entirely positive that embraces quality, integrity, and goodness, and for bringing their creations of music to mainstream life in a manner that can be enjoyed by all.
